Sanad is a multi-channel visual installation that abstracts the Science of Hadith into 3 instruments of function. The search, authentication and compilation.

In its first presentation at supermoon 01, Sanad was configured around the function of search.

Assembled on top of round plywood cuts, aluminium extrusions were cut and configured to form the instruments, a device that performs the motion of a radar, a spectrogram visualizing a recitation of a hadith and a looping graphic of the major cities of knowledge visited by Imam Muhammad Al-Bukhari during his journey to collect the hadith.

The hadith (a recorded saying, action or silent approval of the Prophet Muhmmad pbuh) were almost entirely transmitted through an oral tradition in the early periods of Islam and an effort to compile and preserve them was made during the third generation of muslims around 828CE.
